What makes us unique?
We are a volunteer network that is spread across Bangalore city. Each one of us has acquired skill and nuance and together we are able to care for the most vulnerable and sick cats and kittens who find themselves alone, abandoned or in dangerous circumstances. Today, we are over 40 volunteers and work closely with several animal shelters, vets and clinics.
As a volunteer network we are able to provide intensive, personalized care to each animal in distress. We have zero overheads ( no shelter, no staff costs etc) and since each animal gets the specific attention they need, mortality/infection rates are low. Finally, in a safe home foster environment, these animals flourish and this helps us find the perfect home for them based on their personality.
Bangalore Cat Squad exists to help the most unfortunate and unwanted cats and kittens in our community. We Recognize that the vast majority of them are not lucky enough to have safe spaces to call home. We are committed to tackling the challenge of feral cat overpopulation through spaying/neutering camps, awareness programs and policy change (where possible).
BCS takes in stray, injured, orphaned kittens and cats in need and cares for them via our self-funded volunteer network and ensures that they find a loving home. The Bangalore Cat Squad has made it possible to re-home hundreds of cats and kittens annually and offer the best care, support and follow up for each rescue. “We believe citizen involvement is the only sustainable way of creating a lasting impact in the animal welfare ecosystem in India and the world"
Shelters are overwhelmed, and are the only safe heaven for animals who cannot be rehabilitated. Part of our mission is to support shelters by ensuring that healthy animals who could have a second change, do not end up there.
Glimpses of our work
We are able to host adoption camps , training programs for our fosters and workshops for kids thanks to the generous support of small businesses across the city who loan us their space and time pro bono.
